Lay Eucharistic Ministers
No prior experience is required; however, strong faith and interest in Christ are essential for this special ministry. Lay Eucharistic Ministers must be adult and a member of St. Matthew's Cathedral.
During the Eucharist (Holy Communion), the Lay Eucharistic Ministers assist the priest by offering bread or wine to the worshipers.
Lay Eucharistic Ministers or (LEMS) must be dedicated to their ministries, demonstrate faith in Jesus Christ, exhibit a spiritual maturity and have a good reputation in the local congregation.

Lay Eucharistic Visitors
A Lay Eucharistic Visitor is a lay person authorized to take the consecrated elements in a timely manner following a Celebration of Holy Eucharist to members of the congregation who, by reason of illness or infirmity, were unable to be present at the Celebration of the Eucharist. A Lay Eucharistic Visitor acts under the direction of a deacon, if any, or otherwise, the member of the clergy or other leader exercising oversight of the congregation or other community of faith.
