A Sacred Bundle - Upcoming Adult Forums
For the first two Adult Forums in October, the focus will be on the Native American idea of a Sacred Bundle. Used by nomadic tribes the bundle contained a small number of items which could be easily carried and was used to remind the tribe or clan of its history, core values, and vision for the future. Members of St. Matthew's are invited to bring one item to the Forum that visually reminds them of our St. Matthew's and our identity, vision and mission. As you consider what item you will bring, ask yourself these questions: Who have we been? In the past what have we done and stood for in the Diocese and in Laramie? Who are we now? What do we do? Where are we headed? What item will help to tell that story. There will be an opportunity to tell about your item and its significance in small groups during the Forum.
Blessing of the Animals - Sunday, October 9th
Join us for an ecumenical service of the Blessing of the Animals in honor of St. Francis of Assisi on October 9th at 2pm at the Ivison Mansion (603 E. Ivinson).
I belong at St. Matthew's - Poetry Project Update
At the last Adult Forum members shared the poetic results of their reflections about belonging at St. Matthew's. Some common images emerged: the bells, stained glass, organ, hymns, and particular seasonal liturgies, as well as appreciation for the diversity of the congregation and the call to share our faith with others. We plan to compile the poems into a booklet. If you would like to include your poem, please send it to Marilyn Engstrom at marengstrom104@gmail.com

IN OUR PRAYERS Praying for others and having prayers said for you is very powerful. Often times we want to ask folks to pray for us or for others and are not sure how to do that. If you or someone you know is in need of prayer, please email or call the office and they will be included in the weekly update. We will leave each person on for one month unless otherwise told. It is very important that you ask permission of those you want included as not everyone wants their needs made public. If you or someone else would like prayers but do not want to be included in this update, please also let us know and we will have our prayer team pray in confidence. Please pray for: Mel, Judith, Danny, Marilyn, Darcy, Janet, Amy, Milward, Sunny, Cody, Brock, Hank, Liz, Pat, Martha, Neil, Kris, Nora, Barb, Ronnie, Helene, Deb, Virginia, Roger, Margaret, Lacy, Chuck, Cathi, and Jessie. If you would like continued prayer for a person mentioned on this list, please let the office administrator know by calling (307) 742-6608 or emailing stmattslaramie@gmail.com.
