In 1983, a group of local church women who were passionate about addressing hunger in Laramie began preparing meals in their own homes to serve individuals in whatever public space was available. At one point, the Durlacher house on south 5thStreet served as a more permanent location, until a lasting home was found in the lower-level of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Cathedral, where it has been located since 1988. The organizations’ common ministry to those in need becomes its fullest through this partnership. St. Matthew’s Parish offers a place of comfortable community, while the Soup Kitchen welcomes all people with a warm meal so that together the whole person may be fed.

An independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit registered with the State of Wyoming since 1996, the Laramie Soup Kitchen is still driven by that same passion: increasing access to quality, nutritious food so that every person who is hungry or alone may share a meal without cost.

We look forward to having you volunteer!

Volunteers are an integral part of our operation. They help kitchen staff with food preparation, serving, and keeping the space clean and safe for our guests.
